Learn to fly fish for native Brook Trout in our Mountain Trout Schools which are held in the Shenandoah National Park, 40 miles east of our fly shop. In these fly fishing schools you will learn; equipment selection, casting on these mountain streams, entomology, reading the water, proper fly selection, and how to fish dry’s, nymphs, and streamers under various circumstances for trout in freestone streams. Many of the fine points covered in Harry’s book, Trout Fishing in the Shenandoah National Park Revised 2010 ($14.95) are covered in detail in these schools. All schools are held on Weekdays. Spaces are reserved first come first served with full payment due upon registering for class. The fishing we encounter in these schools lends itself best to 2, 3 and 4 weight fly rods 7 to 8 feet long. Heavier line sizes or longer rods tend to leave us at a disadvantage. Rod/ Reel outfits are available for use in these schools and we strongly recommend using our equipment on the first day. Please give us a call if you plan on purchasing an outfit prior to these schools. |
